On-line discussion groups and chat

There are many ways you can use the Internet to contact others with an interest in autistic spectrum disorders. Discussion groups and chat facilities exist for parents, siblings, professionals, people with autistic spectrum disorders themselves, and for everyone interested in autism or Asperger syndrome.

Email discussion lists allow you to post questions and useful information to other members of the list. Because the discussion is carried out by email, you take part in the discussion whenever it is convenient for you.

Chat channels are for conversations in 'real time'. Most of the chat channels on this page are for members only, so they are a safe environment for discussing issues with people who understand your situation.

There are also pen-pal registries based on the Internet. If you send your details to the registry co-ordinators, they will put you in touch with someone else who wants to exchange emails one-to-one.
